Remembering...

what Memorial Day is really about is very important to me. I grew up in the military. I have friends who have fought in Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Panama, Iraq, Pakistan, and other places that they could not say. I have friends who have lost friends during their time of battle. I have lost friends with little said other than, they are coming home to rest. My father's father fought in World War II, My father-in-law fought in Vietnam, My father served in Desert Storm, and my husband served in Desert Storm. It is because of their sacrifice that we have the freedoms that we have today. The freedom of worship, the freedom of perusing happiness, and even the freedom of debt. I don't normally "rant" in a blog, but I have to say that I am a bit frustrated this morning with all the "sales" campaigns that I have seen on the internet and have heard on the television. This is not just another "holiday"! Today is the day that we are to stop and th...

Staying the course...

is always easier said than done, but it is what I strive for. First and foremost, Happy Memorial Day. This is a special day for me as I remember my friends that have served our country (and yes, some have lost their lives) and who are still serving.  It has been a fast paced 2 weeks as we finished up the school year. So here's a recap of all the fun craziness that has been going on! Of course there was the Atlanta Field Trip that my son and husband went on for the 5th grade field trip, which included a stop at Turner Field to watch a Braves game. Then there were the performances...oh and yeah...they all sang songs from the 80's! When did that begin to happen?! My daughter's school performed the Awesome 80's and she had to dress up in the "80's" style. I tried to tell her the style was jeans and a rock t-shirt, but she went for the Olivia Newton-John look. My 5th grade son had his final performance as a graduation type theme (with 80's musi...

Need Motivation?

I do. Always. Usually I can motivate myself, but at the same time, I can motivate myself out of something too. I have been off to a good start with my new exercise regiment only to be thrown off by the weather, and when that happens I tend to talk myself out of a workout at home. I know that is where my biggest struggle is right now...it's getting motivated to work out. Today is Wednesday, and this is usually "my day" to work out with Karate and the Kettle bells. I am just loving Kettle Bells by the way...Oh My new favorite thing to do! It's just the Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri, Sat & Sun I have to work on now. I know that it's important to work out every day! Now workout means doing a physical activity for at least 30 minutes . I'm not talking about running a marathon each day. I was reading my friend, Robin's blog and I have to tell you that I am so proud of her & totally inspired by her and all that she has accomplished with losing weight ...
